Choosing the right features for your new greenhouse

From the type of framework it’s made from to the colours and accessories it’s finished with, your new greenhouse is likely to end up being as unique as your garden. We can help and advise on how to get the most out of your project and create the perfect space for you and your plants.

Many greenhouses can be produced in either of our two specifications, although larger buildings often demand the heavier construction of our ‘Victorian’ specification. The ‘Edwardian’ specification is ideal for smaller buildings and is more cost effective than the equivalent ‘Victorian’ of the same size.

The use of colour can have a dramatic effect on the look of your greenhouse and we offer a standard palette of tried and tested colours that work well in a number of environments. We can also match most RAL or BS colours for the ultimate in individuality.

Accessories including staging, shelving, cold frames, ridge cresting, window boards and vine wires allow you to personalise your own greenhouse and get the most from it both functionally and aesthetically.

While some people, including many greenhouse manufacturers, are frightened of using timber for their greenhouse, others insist upon it. Here at White Cottage we believe it’s the best material to use provided it’s done in the right way and by combining it with certain aluminium components you really can have your cake and eat it.
