Bespoke Victorian Mono-pitch Lean-to Greenhouse
INSPIRED By GREAT GLASSHOUSES
Traditionally a lean-to greenhouse was often at the heart of a walled garden. Traditionally a lean-to greenhouse was often at the heart of a walled garden. Our Victorian specification is perfect for historic settings where an appropriate design is essential, such as period properties and listed buildings.
Every lean-to is designed individually to suit your requirements and those of the site, but our Victorian mono-pitch greenhouses are ideal where the rear wall height available and span required are both 3m or more.
When positioned against a south facing wall the greenhouse will benefit from sunlight throughout the day. The wall absorbs heat and radiates it back into the greenhouse at night, reducing temperature variations and helping to provide a consistent environment.

POSITIONED FOR GrowTH
Optimising light and shelter for your plants
A mono-pitch design creates an ideal space for vines and other climbing plants which can be grown against the back wall. For shade loving plants and ferneries the building should face north, with the wall providing cover from the sun.
A greenhouse base can be dug down into the ground where it will benefit from the warmth of the earth, particularly in winter, saving on heating. Traditionally called a ‘pit-house’ this can be done for a freestanding or lean-to design. Where the wall would otherwise be too low for a mono-pitch lean-to, sinking the internal floor level (typically by two or three feet) effectively increases the available wall height.
